Thank you for the various explanations on the tragedies which befell Nechunya. Just a thought on why Nechunya would not accept any nechama for the death of his daughter. Rashi explains that Yaakov couldn't be consoled for the death of his son Yosef, because in fact his son never died. Maybe that is why Nechunya couln't accept any consolations, since his daughter never died.
