Hope all well. I was with a frie friend of mine a couple of weeks ago who works for the Canadian Jewish Relief Society (www.veahavta.org) and he said he thought there were gemoras that touched on following:
1) should we give a coin to the begger in the street?
2) how are jews to treat those with no homes something like that"
Any ideas please and Chanukah sameach to you and yours.

The TUR (Yoreh De'ah 251) writes that one must give a coin to any beggar who extends his hand to you, even a non-Jew. See the Tur there for details.
