DAF DISCUSSIONS - BAVA METZIA 2

avrohom adler asked:

The Gemora says many times that in our Mishna, there is not a definite liar, for perhaps they both picked it up at the same time. How would that work out by the case of 3/4 and 1/4?

Thank you

avrohom adler, usa

The Kollel replies:

This could be where Reuven agrees to Shimon that one half of the Talis belongs entirely to him but the dispute is about the second half. They have an equal hold on the second half and it could be that they picked it up at the same time. (See Rashi in the Mishnah DH v'Zeh and Tosfos DH v'Zeh in the name of Rivam that they have an equal hold on the second half.)
