DAF DISCUSSIONS - MEGILAH 2

Bernie Schubach asked:

P.S. Someone in the class had asked whether Har Nof reads Megilah on the 14th or 15th. I figure that you would know, considering that you live there. :-)

Thanks again,

Bernie.

The Kollel replies:

Hi Bernie,

Har Nof has an interesting history as far as when we read Megilah.

When the neighborhood was first settled, many people were particular to observe two days of Purim, because there was not a built up area connecting Har Nof with the rest of Yerushalayim. Actually, though, the Chazon Ish was asked many years before by the Rav of Kfar Shaul (an adjacent neighbourhood), and he ruled to observe only the 15th there.

Today Har Nof is connected with the rest of Yerushalayim and with the exception of a few Machmirin (who read the Megilah on the 14th as well without a Brachah), everyone observes the 15th as Purim

bi'Brachah,

Rabbi Zwi Wainstein
