What is the meaning of "v'Higbir Bris la'Rabim Shavu'a Echad"?
Rashi: He made a strong Bris with officers of Yisrael, promising serenity for seven years. Amidst the Shavu'a, he will annul his Bris. Rabim are officers, like "v'Chol Rabei ha'Melech."
Ibn Ezra (24): Titus made a Bris with Yisrael for seven years.
Malbim: Titus requested to make Shalom with them and a Bris for seven years. He will not take any taxes, as long as they make a Bris of Shalom with him.
How long is "va'Chatzi ha'Shevu'a"?
Ibn Ezra (24): For three and a half years Titus nullified the Tamid in Bayis Sheni before the Churban. So it says in Sefer ben Guryon. This is like it says "ume'Es Husar ha'Tamid v'Lases Shikut Shamem Yamim Elef Masayim v'Sish'im" (12:11). Daniel needed to explain the number of days because sometimes there is a second Adar 1 . Also, Chetzi need not be exactly half, like Chetzi Shevet Menasheh. Yamim is always days, and not years. Indeed, sometimes Yamim is a complete year, when the days return [to the same time in the year], e.g. "mi'Yamim Yamimah", "Yamim Tihyeh Ge'ulaso." However, when there is a number ? Shnei Yamim or Sheloshah ? they must be days, like "Shenasayim Yamim" ? the days returned. Also Chodesh Yamim ? the moon returned to its position.
Below (12:7), Ibn Ezra said that he needed to explain because it is not exactly three and a half years. The exact number is [within two of] 1269 days, or 1299 there is a second Adar Sheni. (PF)
What do we learn from "Yashbis Zevach u'Minchah"?
Rashi: This is like it said in the first vision "uv'Shlavah Yashchis Rabim" (8:25) ? he will destroy them amidst a Bris of serenity. 1
Malbim: Korbanos ceased due to wars.
I do not understand how "Zevach u'Minchah" hints to killing people. (PF)
What do we learn from "v'Al Kanaf Shikutzim Meshomem"?
Rashi: Meshomem is a nickname for idolatry, which is mute like a lifeless rock. He will put it on a high setting, amidst abominations. Kanaf is an expression of height, like the Kanaf (wing) of a bird that flies.
Ibn Ezra (24-25): He put Shikutim (idols) in the Dvir (Kodesh ha'Kodoshim) after the mentioned number of days, when Yerushalayim was captured - "v'Chilelu ha'Mikdash ha'Ma'oz v'Hesiru ha'Tamid" (11:31). This is when Yerushalayim was conquered in the days of Titus. Meshomem is Po'el Yotzei (acts on another) ? it makes silent any Yisrael who sees or hears it.
Malbim: Seventy years after the Churban, Adriyanus put his image in the place of the Mikdash, on the wing of abominations.
What do we learn from "v'Ad Kalah v'Necheratzah Titach Al Shomem"?
Rashi: The abomination will rule until the day of demise decreed on it, in the days of Mashi'ach. Idolatry and its worshippers will be eradicated.
Ibn Ezra: The idol will stand in the Bayis until it will be decreed that it be Shomem, This is a Tefilah that it be Shomem, like "Bas Bavel ha'Shedudah."
Malbim: His image will be there until the destroyer will destroy him.
