QUESTIONS ON RASHI

2)

Rashi writes: "... his rejected, insignificant son." Why did Rashi not interpret the verse literally, that Cham was the youngest of Noach's children?

1.

Mizrachi: Cham was in fact older than Yefes. 1

2.

Gur Aryeh: In the next Perek (10:11), it is clear that Yefes was the eldest [and Cham was in fact the youngest]! Rather, Rashi does not interpret literally here, because that fact is irrelevant in the context of this verse.

See Rashi to 5:32, and Gur Aryeh here, regarding the order in which the three sons are usually listed. Refer to 10:21:3.3 for the order and ages of the three sons of Noach, according to Mizrachi and Gur Aryeh.
