What is the significance of giving to Mordechai the ring that he had given to Haman?
Vilna Gaon: He gave to him both things that Haman had - Gidlo (3:1) with money, and "va'Ynasehu" (ibid.) with honor. Beis Haman is his wealth, and the ring is his honor. [The two Sov's in] "Lases l'Tov Lifnei ha'Elokim" (Koheles 2:26) refers to two gifts 1 .
Malbim: The second [to the king] bore the ring from the time that the king gave it to Haman. Achashverosh gave it to Mordechai immediately; he did not put it on his hand in between. The two matters that the Rasha boasted about 2 - his wealth (Beis Haman), and that the king aggrandized him (the ring) - passed to Mordechai in a moment - Yachin Rasha v'Yilbash Tzadik 3 .
On verse 1, the Vilna Gaon explained that they refer to giving to Esther and Mordechai! (PF)
It seems that he boasted also about "Rov Banav" (5:11)! (PF)
