What is "Hir'ashta"?

1.

Rashi: You made our land clamor from many troops.

2)

What is "Patzamta"?

1.

Rashi: You broke it.

2.

Rashi citing Menachem: You tore it. A proof is "v'Kara Lo Chalonai" (Yirmeyah 22:14); the Targum is u'Fatzim 1 .

3.

Radak: It is an expression of opening and cleaving. The Targum of "v'Kara Lo Chalonai" (Yirmeyah 22:14) is u'Fatzim. At the time of the noise, the land opens and cleaves. The coming of the enemy to Eretz Yisrael and capturing cities is compared to the land clamoring and cleaving.

1

Rashi: I disagree. The Targum refers to fixing the window, like all openings that have Patzimim (vertical beams from the bottom of the opening to the top. I do not know Rashi's source to say that "Kara" refers to fixing. - PF)

3)

What is the meaning of "Rafah Shevareha"?

1.

Rashi: It is an expression of Refu'ah (a cure), even though it is written with a Hei (and not an Aleph). Radak - e.g. "Erpah Meshuvasam" (Yirmeyah 3:22). You cleaved the land, and You will heal its breakages!

2.

Malbim: Making the land clamor and break was in order to heal it. The purpose of their decline was the beginning of their success.

4)

What is the meaning of "Chi Matah"?

1.

Rashi: It is an expression of lowliness.

2.

Radak: [The cleaved land] is about to fall, if You will not stand it up.
