What do we learn from "Kol Tzon Kedar... Al Ratzon Mizbechi"?

Avodah Zarah 24a: Chachamim infer that we may buy animals from Nochrim for Korbanos 1 .

Radak: It is most (not truly) all flocks of Kedar. Also "v'Chol ha'Aretz Ba'u Mitzraimah" (Bereishis 41:57) means most. Refer to 60:7:2:1.

3.

Malbim: You will fear when you see all the flocks brought; you will rejoice when you find that they are for Korbanos.

24a: They challenged R. Eliezer, who forbids (Radak - lest the Nochri used it for bestiality). He answers that then will be different, for all will guard the Mitzvos - "Ehfoch El Amim... Likro Kulam b'Shem Hashem" (Tzefanyah 3:9).

What are "Eilei Nevayos"?

1.

Rashi: They are rams of Nevayos. Radak - Kedar and Nevayos raise great flocks. They dwell in tents, and travel from place to place, and seek grazing areas. It is as if it says b'Eilei Nevayos Yesharsunech (the rams will be their gift); the prefix Beis is omitted.

Why does it say "Al Ratzon Mizbechi"?

1.

Radak: The verse should be re-arranged; it means Al Mizbechi l'Ratzon. Similarly, "Makom Sham Kever" (Yechezkel 39:11, is like Makom Kever Sham). Some animals will be a gift, and they will offer others on the Mizbe'ach to Hashem. Alternatively, Yisrael will offer them. Chachamim argued about this (refer to 60:7:1:1 and the note there).

Malbim: The verse personifies the Mizbe'ach, as if it desires their Korbanos - "v'Gam El ha'Nochri... me'Eretz Rechokah"; "u'Paras Kapav El ha'Bayis ha'Zeh" (Melachim I, 8:41, 38).

Why does it say "Afa'er"?

1.

Radak: I will put in their hearts to glorify [My Bayis]. This is like "Ehpoch El Amim... [Likro Kulam b'Shem Hashem]."

2.

Malbim: I will glorify My Bayis through Korbanos that are the best from their species.
