What is "Levarech Es Beiso"?

1.

Radak: It is to give Shalom, like "Ki Simtza Ish Lo Sevarchenu" (Melachim II, 4:29).

2)

What is the tense of "Nichbad"?

1.

Radak: It is Nif'al, in past tense, for there is a Patach under the Beis. She said so mockingly; it was not honorable, that you were jovial like an empty commoner!

3)

Why did she say "today"?

1.

Malbim #1: Some kings are always among the nation; this is their honor. You are not used to this; it was only today.

2.

Malbim #2: Sometimes a king must go out among the people for a need, e.g. when Avner died, David went among the people to appease them (prove that he grieved the loss). In war, he must go among the soldiers to arouse them. Today there was no need!

4)

Why did she say "Amhos Avadav"?

1.

Radak: Not only in front of the wives of your servants, rather, you were disgraced even in the eyes of your servants' slaves!

2.

Malbim: Honor is seen through the givers of honor, and the recipient. (a) Only officers and nobles should be close to the king, but not the lower people in the nation; they must hide from him and stand afar. Today you were revealed in front of them! (b) The king should not appear like a commoner. He should wear royal clothing and his crown, and be exalted on his throne. You wore Efod Bad and danced!

5)

What is the tense of "k'Higalos Niglos"?

1.

Radak: Both are Makor (like infinitives). One is Makor Shalem (with the initial Nun), like "Nish'ol Nish'al" (20:6). The other lacks the initial Nun of Nif'al, like usual. The infinitive was doubled due to his great exposure amidst his joviality.

2.

Radak citing Targum Yonasan: You are like one who removed [his shoes] and [his feet] are exposed.

6)

What is the meaning of "Reikim"?

1.

Rashi citing Targum Yonasan: Empty (lowly) people.
