What is the meaning of "va'Yichreh"?
Rashi: He prepared a meal. The same applies to "Yichru Alav Chabarim" (Iyov 40:30), just va'Yichreh is [Po'el] Yotzei Shelishi (he causes a second matter to act on a third 1 ), and Yichru is Yotzei Sheni (acting on a second matter).
Malbim: This refers to making a great meal for the sake of making a Bris and Shalom - "Yichru Alav Chabarim" (Iyov 40:30), "Nevos Keros Ro'im" (Tzefanyah 2:6). Yalkut Shimoni (231) - "Tovah Chachmah mi'Kli Cherev" (Koheles 9:18) - the meal that Elisha did was greater for Yisrael than all the weapons and wars that Yehoram ben Achav made. Karah is an expression of Shalom.
I.e. the king told others to prepare the meal. This is unlike Kli Yakar, who says that the king himself prepared it, to fulfill the Navi's words.
Here it says that troops of Aram ceased to enter Yisrael. The next verse says that Melech Aram gathered his camp and besieged Shomron!
Radak: It means that they did not go again at this time; it does not mean that they never went again. The same applies to "v'Lo Hosif Od Melech Mitzrayim Latzeis me'Artzo" (24:7), and it says (Yirmeyah 37:5) "v'Cheil Pharaoh Yatza mi'Mitzrayim va'Yishme'u ha'Kasdim", "v'Lo Tosifi Od Laloz 1 " (Yeshayah 23:12), "va'Amalo Lo Yizkar Od" (Mishlei 31:7), i.e. as long as the wine is in him 2 .
Ralbag: They will not come like this, i.e. covertly 3 , for they feared the Navi. Rather, they came openly for war.
Malbim: Here it says that that Gedudim ceased, i.e. parts of the camp that enter the land like an ambush. Until now they did so, like murderers and plunderers, not in the way of war; this ceased. Below he gathered his camp in the way of war.
