If he thought that Tevilah in those rivers would help, why did he not do so?

Radak: He meant, if I can be cured through Tevilah, I can bathe in them to be cured.

Radak citing his father: I bathe in them every day [and it does not help]!

Malbim: If he will purify me in the way of a cure, the Yarden is no better than the rivers of Damesek. If they do not help, also the Yarden will not!

Why did he say "v'Taharti"?
