Why did they blow Teru'ah?

Malbim: They were confident of victory, like when they entered Eretz Yisrael and conquered Yericho. Also this was a sin; Hashem commanded not to blow until the time of the victory, when the wall fell. Before this, they should put their eyes to Hashem.
