What does the Pasuk mean when it writes "ve'Nod'ah ha'Chatas"? Is it not obvious that they cannot bring a Korban before they know that they have sinned?
Ramban #1, Moshav Zekenim #1: It is a manner of speech, as if to say 'When they know that they have sinned... '. 1
Ramban #2, Moshav Zekenim #2: To teach us that they are only Chayav if they know for sure that they have sinned - but not on a Safek. 2
Ramban #3: To teach us that, not only must they know that they ruled incorrectly, but also exactly what their mistake was. 3
"ve'Nod'ah ha'Chatas asher Chat?u Aehah". Why does the Torah insert the (otherwise superfluous) word ?Alehah??
Horayos 5a: To teach us via a Gezeirah Shavah ?ALehah? ?Legaos Ervasah Alehah?
?Vehikrivu ha?Kahal Par ben Bakar le?Chatas?. The standard animal that is brought as a Chatas is a goat. Why do the Tzibur bring a bull?
R. Bachye (here and in Bereishis 3:6: When majority Tzibur sin 1 they generally bring a bull 2 - Also every Musaf offering includes bulls - due to the sin of the Eigel, which was similar to the sin of Adam ha?Rishon (removing the bull from Hashem?s Throne) 3 who sacrificed a bull, 4 and it is befitting to repent with the same object with which one sinned.
?Vehikrivu ha?Kahal Par ben Bakar le?Chatas?. Why did the Torah not insert ?Tamim? like it did in Pasuk 3, in connection with the Par of the Kohen Gadol?
R. Bachye: With reference to 4:14:2:1 and note 4 ? Because whereas Aharon?s intentions were entirely pure, those of the people wee not, since some of them actually had in mind to worship Avodah Zarah. 1
R. Bachye: As the Torah wrote there - in Sh?mos 32:8 ?Vayizb?chu lo ?Vayishyachavu lo?.
?Vehikrivu oso Lifnei Ohel Mo?ed?. Why does the Torah write here and above in Pasuk 4 ? regarding the bull of the Kohen Gadol ? that the bull is brought to the Ohel Mo?ed, something that it does not do by any other Korban?
R. Bachye: To demonstarate the pleasure tht one gives Hashem by doing Tehuvah in this way. 1
R. Bachye (citing Vayikra Rabah): It can be compared to a king who, upon receiving a beautiful gift from his good friend, announced ?Hang it up t the entrance of my palace, so that everyone should know what a beautiful gift my frined brought me!? ? The gift is Teshuvah!
