How did Hashem make them like Sedom and Amorah?
Radak: Part of their land, while they were on it, was desolate like Sedom and Amorah.
Radak citing Targum Yonasan: Hashem despised them like Sedom and Amorah.
Malbim: He overturned them like Sedom and Amorah. This was the fifth time that He sounded the Shofar. This refers to Melech Ashur exiling them from their land. After the first two exiles, only Shomron and its suburbs remained.
What is "Ud"?
Rashi: It is a roasting spit. I.e. they will be black, dark and gloomy.
What is the comparison to an Ud?
Radak: A small remnant will remain, like a spit saved from a fire.
Malbim: Fire consumed the ends of the spit, and the middle is parched.
