Why does He compare them to "Esev Sadeh vi'Yrak Deshe"?
Malbim: The residents are not totally cut off. Rather, they are like grass of the field. They wither before the grain ripens. After they fall, the field is full of grain. Also these residents were afraid and ashamed, but they will sprout to greatness in the days of Chizkiyah.
Why did He specify "Chatzir Gagos"?
Rashi: It dries quickly.
Radak (Melachim II, 19:26): It is weaker than Esev Sadeh and Yerek Desheh.
What is "u'Shdemah Lifnei Kamah"?
Rashi: It is stubble (what remains in the ground after reaping grain) before the grain ripened and hardened, to be called Kamah (standing grain).
Radak (Melachim II, 19:26): It is sheaves stricken before they ripened, to be called Kamah.
Why does it say here "u'Shdemah", and in Melachim II, 19:26 "u'Shdefah"?
Rashi: Here it is stubble. (In Melachim, Rashi says that it is sheaves that were stricken.)
Radak (Melachim II, 19:27): Pei and Mem are interchangeable. They are pronounced from the same place (the lips - PF).
