Presuably, Targum Onkelos and Targum Yonasan ignore the question, since the bulk of the Parshah deals with Eisav?s geneolagy. Moreover, all the issues are connected with the children and grandchildren thaqt the Torah is discussing.

Why does the Torah discuss the generations of other nations, e.g. Edom?

Da'as Zekenim: It is to make known Seder Olam (chronicles).

Moshav Zekenim (to Bereishis 43:7): Yisrael may not take land of Edom, so we must know who is from Edom. 1
