What is the meaning of "Semamis b'Yadayim Tesapes"?
Rashi: With its hand, a spider holds and clings to walls.
Rashi (31): This is Esav - "ha'Yadayim Yedei Esav" (Bereishis 27:22). He entered "Heichelei Melech" (Hashem's Heichal) and destroyed it.
Malbim (Derech ha'Muskal): It weaves weak, repulsive webs that it emits from its body. It does so even in beautiful royal palaces; due to this, they expel it and kill it. Hashem gave this nature so people will learn that errant mindsets and webs that he weaves with his Sechel, based on his own comparisons, are like spider webs. He thinks that he weaves a fortress of refuge, even though it is in the king's palace, and he has a strong tower for refuge - the Divine Torah! Even so, people erect their opinions and investigations in the king's palace, to investigate Divine matters and matters of his palace, i.e. the worlds that He created. This is for their evil, just like the spider causes its own death, so this person causes the death of his Nefesh and its expulsion from the palace of the King of the world. Chachmah. "V'El Refa'im Mageloseha 1 " (2:18) - this is the opposite of a Shifchah who inherits her mistress 2 (23).
Malbim (Derech ha'Pashut): Semamis is the name of a wily Shifchah of the evil king. He was Mezaneh with her, and she set a trap for him. Refer to 30:31:3:3. The verse gives a Mashal of a spider due to her name.
Malbim (2:18): They are the ways of comparisons and investigations via which one goes roundabout to the house of Ishah Zarah, to clarify the opinion of heresy and denial, via paths that depart from straightness and Emes. They cause the Nefesh to be cut off and perish.
Malbim explained there that he intentionally argues with the Torah and brings misleading proofs and comparisons. Here, he wants to reach Emes. However, both of them cause their own demise. (PF)
What is the significance of "v'Hi b'Heichelei Melech"?
Refer to 30:28:1:2-3.
Malbim (Derech ha'Pashut): Semamis was initially in the king's palace to be Mezanah with him, and now she rules in it.
