What is Parbar?
'Rashi' and Redak (15), from Tamid 27a: It is Kelapei Bar (facing out). Malbim (16) - it was in the west.
Malbim (16): It is Shupim (16). Parbar is like Efer Bar (there, ashes are cast outside). Even though the Gemara (Tamid 27a) said Kelapei Bar, the Ra'avad explained that it is separated; people do not go there. My Perush can be like this.
What do we learn from "la'Parbar la'Ma'arav"?
Malbim: It is further west 1 , on the path mentioned above (16).
Malbim (16) explained that Shupim is Parbar; The Sefer already taught that it is in the west! Therefore, here it teaches that it is further west. (PF)
Do four guard on the path?
Malbim: Yes, and two guard Parbar.
What is the significance of the number of guards?
Radak (15): In all there were 24, like the other Mishmaros - six in the east, four in the west, four in the north, four in the south (17), four for Beis ha'Asufim, and two for Parbar (18).
Malbim (1): In all, there were 24 heads named; each guarded one of 24 places.
The verses teach that Leviyim guarded in 24 places. Midos 1:1 says that Kohanim guard in three places, and Leviyim in 21!
Redak (15): This is one of the 24 places in which Kohanim are called Leviyim 1 .
Malbim citing SMaG (Aseh 165) and Bartenura: Where Kohanim guarded, also Leviyim guarded.
Radak, from Midos 1:1: Kohanim guard in Beis Avtinas, Beis ha'Nitzutz and Beis ha'Mokad. Leviyim guard by five gates of Har ha'Bayis, the four corners from inside, the five gates of the Azarah, the four corners from outside, Lishkas ha'Korban, Lishkas ha'Parochos, and in back of Beis ha'Kapores.
