What is "Kol Hamon Shalev"?

1.

Rashi: It is the voice of many Nochrim. It is not a voice of war, rather, of serenity. Radak ? this is because she sent to them to come to her, since they were amenable with her ? their deeds were straight in her eyes.

2.

Malbim: It is the voice a multitude of men on her bed. They are serene, and do not fear at all, unlike adulterers who come quietly and fear her husband. These men are loud, without fear.

2)

Why does it say "v'El Anashim"?

1.

Rashi: It is for men and of men, and not of animals.

2.

Radak: "V'El is like v'Im (with). The same applies to "V'Ishah El Achosah" (Vayikra 18:18), "Kivru Osi El Avosai" (Bereishis 49:27) and similar verses. Those to whom she sent, they came with other men.

3)

Why does it say "me'Rov Adam [Muva'im]"?

1.

Rashi: Most of the men [who came for adultery were from the Midbar].

2.

Radak: From the many men that they wanted to bring with them, to be a multitude. They were Muva'im (brought) ? the ones invited, they brought them.

3.

Malbim: The men who came, a multitude of men brought them.

4)

What is the meaning of "Sava'im"?

1.

Rashi: They lived around [Eretz Yisrael] ? their neighbors Amon and Mo'av. This is like Targum Yonasan 'mi'Schor Schor.'

2.

Radak: The nation Seva; they are from Bnei Kush (Bereishis 10:7). This is like "u'Sva'im Anshei Midah" (Yeshayah 45:14).

3.

Malbim: They are drunkards, Sov'ei Yayin. They are wild and Midbari (uncivilized).

5)

Who put the bracelets, and why?

1.

Rashi: Ahalah and Ahalivah put them to adorn themselves for adultery. Because Amon and Mo'av were many, she adorns herself for them. Since they are neighbors, she glorifies herself in their eyes. The prefix Vov in "va'Yitenu" is extra, like the Vov in "[Azi v'Zimras Kah] va'Yhi Li li'Yshu'ah" and "va'Asher Lo Sam Libo El Devar Hashem va'Ya'azov (Shemos 15:2, 9:21).

2.

Radak: When the plural is used to ("Yedeihen? Rosheihen"), it refers to Ahalah and Ahalivah. When the singular is used, it refers to Ahalivah; it was the latter, and the Nevu'ah is primarily about her.

3.

Malbim: The men who brought [the wild men] put them, and put glorious crowns on their heads, so they will appear like great, important officers. Really, they are lowly. You 1 put the crowns and bracelets in order to honor them and be Mezanah with them. You did all this openly! 2

1

Malbim just said that the men who brought them put the crowns and bracelets on them! Perhaps this was part of the Shelichus, so it is attributed to you (the Meshale'ach). (PF)

2

I.e. you would not be Mezanah with them as long as they appear lowly. "Yedeihen" and "Rosheihen" are feminine. How can Malbim explain that they put on the men? (PF)
