What is this Pasuk telling us?

Rashi and Targum Onkelos: "va'Niram Avad Cheshbon" - 'They (Mo'av) lost their sovereignty over Cheshbon'; "Ad Divon" - 'and it was removed from Divon'; "Va'nashim ad Nofach" - 'their land was laid waste up to Nofach'; "asher ad Meidva" - 'which bordered Meidva' 1 .

Seforno: It is referring to Yisrael's demolition of the kingdom of Sichon and his army at the hand of Yisrael. "Vaniram Avad Cheshbon" - 'And Cheshbon lost its sovereignty, its fire and its flame 2 up till Divon'.

Rashbam: ?Va'niram? means ?And we destroyed tem ? as if it had written ?Vanachrem osam?. 3

Targum Yonasan: With reference to 21:29:2:2 ? to a place where they will learn Torah, and their sons and daughters will sent far away, exiled by the sword opposite those who rule over the Torah (the Rabanan ? Peirush Yonasan) ? the Amora?im and those who speak in Torah?. 4

Bava Basra, 78b: "Va'niram" - 'The Rasha says that there is no High One (Ein Ram)'; "Avad Cheshbon" - 'the reckoning of the Master of the World is lost'; "va'Nashim ad Novach" - 'there will cone a fire that does not require fanning'; 5 "asher Ad Meidva" - 'until his Soul is saddened', or 'until Hakadosh-Baruch-Hu does what He wants with him'. 6
