What is "[El] Em ha'Derech"?

Rashi: It is the crossroads. Radak ? it is called Em ha'Derech, for the [two] roads face it; it is like a mother to them, and they are like sons. "El" is like Al.

Why did he decide "Liksom Kesem"?

Radak: He wanted to see via sorcery which way to go ? to Yerushalayim or to Rabas Bnei Amon. It says the verb with the object [from the same root] to strengthen the matter, like "Tevo'ach Tevach" (15).

How was he "Kilkal ba'Chitzim"?

Rashi: He used them for sorcery. He shot an arrow up, and it turns by itself to right or left. The place to which it turns, this is the lottery. Kilkal is like Kilkul (ruin), like "v'Chol ha'Geva'os Hiskalkelu" (Yirmeyah 4:24). Radak citing his father - Kilkal is like Kalos. He shot them in the air to see on which side they will fall.

Rashi citing Menachem: Kilkal is like "Nechoshes Kalal" (1:7), "v'Hu Lo Panim Kilkal" (Koheles 10:10). Radak ? they sharpen and polish the iron of the arrow until it is very bright. Then, witches see in it, like they see in the thumb-nail, due to its brightness. And so they see in a Sayif (sword) and in a mirror.

Rashi citing Targum Yonasan: Kilkal is a bow.

What is "Terafim"?

Rashi: It is an image that speaks via witchcraft. There is a time that if one makes it at that time, it will speak forever.

Radak: They are images. One sees future events via them.

What did he see in the liver?

Rashi: Some are expert to divine with the liver (Malbim ? of slaughtered animals). Radak ? it has clarity. Nebuchadnetzar divined in these three ways to decide which way to go. The Kesem instructed to go to Yerushalayim.
