How many hyssop twigs does the Kohen take?
What are the implications of "ve'Taval ba'Mayim"?
Zevachim, 93b: It implies that the hyssop must be dipped into one Keili containing all the water, and not in two Keilim each containing half the water.
What are the implications of "Ish Tahor"?
Yoma, 43a: Refer to 19:9:1.1:2.
Bearing in mind that, in Pasuk 20, the Torah writes "ve'Ish asher Yitma", is a Katam subject to Tum'as Meis?
Nidah, 44a: It comes to incorporate even Ketanim in the Din of Tum'as Meis. 1 despite the fact that, in Pasuk 20, the Torah writes "ve'Ish asher Yitma".
See Torah Temimah, note 104.
Seeing as Etzem, Chalal and Meis were listed in Pasuk 16 together with what is Metamei be'Ohel, why are they listed again here - where they are only Metamei via Maga and Masa?
Nazir, 54a: "ba'Etzem" refers to a bone of a Meis the size of a barley, 1 "be'Chalal", to a detached bone of a living person that does not contain enough flesh to re-grow on the limb like it used to be 2 and "ba'Meis", to the detached limb of a Meis that does not contain enough flesh to re-grow on the limb like it used to be.
Why does the Pasuk omit "O ba'Cherev"?
Ramban (in Pasuk 16): Because a sword is not Metamei to obligate sprinkling. 1
Seeing as a Kever was listed in Pasuk 16, together with those that are Metamei be'Ohel, why is it listed here, where it is only Metamei be'Maga and be'Masa?
Yerushalmi Nazir, 7b: Because here it refers to the grave of a Yisrael who dies before Matan Torah - which has the Din of Kivrei Akum. 1
See Torah Temimah, note 108.
Why must one sprinkle on to the Ohel itself?
Rashi (in Shabbos, 27b): Because the tent itself is subject to Tum'ah 1 - provided it is made of linen.
What is the procedure of the Haza?ah?
R. Bachye (on Pasuk #2): A Tahor person takes the three twigs of hyssop and ties them into one bunch, the tip of which he then dips into the Mei Nidah and sprinkles with Kavanah on to the Tamei person or Keilim on the third and seventh days after Haneitz ha?Chamah. The moment some of the water touches the one who is Tamei - even just his finger-tip or the tip of his tongue, he is Yotzei.
Why does the Torah insert the words "Asher Hayu Sham"?
Hadar Zekenim (citing the Sifri): Only what is inside the tent becomes Tamei, but not Keilim that are lying on the outside of the tent.
The Sifri learns from "Asher Hayu Sham" that only what was in the tent becomes Tamei, but not Kelim on the tent. What is the reason?
Hadar Zekenim: This is a Gezeiras ha'Kasuv, just like a barrel that is a Golel (refer to 19:16:151:1,2) becomes Tamei, but liquid inside it remains Tahor. Only what was in the tent becomes Tamei, but not Kelim on the tent.
