Bachye: ?The swallowing? negated the claim of the Bechorim, 1 ?the burning?, the claim of the Kehunah Gedolah, whereas ?the plague came as a punishment because they rejected the appointmen of the Levi?im in place of the Bechorim. The sign of the staffs was to consolidate tha appointment, since they continued complaining. 2
