"Ve'ahavta es Hashem Elokeha". What is the connection between this Pasuk and the previous one
R. Bachye (on 10:22): The fact that Hashem turned you from a family of seventy is reason enough tolove Him and to keep His Mitzvos.
What are the connotations of "u'Shemartem Mishmarto"?
Ramban #1: It means that they should fear Hashem - following the Mitzvah to love Him.
Ramban #2: It means that they should guard (protect) those whom Hashem guards, 1 with reference to guarding the Geirim, favoring the poor and the needy and carrying out the judgment of the orphan and the widow.
Ramban: As the Pasuk writes in Melachim 1, 2:3 and as the Gemara states in Shabbos, 133b 'Just as He is gracious and compassionate, so too, should you be gracious and compassionate.'
