1)

Why does the Torah use the same word "Tinshemes" for a Tamei bird and for one of the eight Tamei Sheratzim?

1.

Rashi: Because they are similar in appearance; the former (a bat) is a kind of mouse that flies by night, the latter (a mole) does not posses eyes.

2)

Why is the magpie called "Racham"?

1.

Because when the magpie arrives, it brings 'mercy' (rain - Rashi) with it. 1
