Rashi: He leaves them Hefker for anyone who comes to hit, kill or plunder them.
What is the significance of a sword on his arm, and on his right eye?
Rashi: The shepherd has a Shechitah knife in his hand to slaughter the fat animal, and he puts his right eye on the healthy, to know which Ashirim to plunder and finish off their wealth.
Radak: It is not a sword to cut off the arm or eye ? they will merely dry and weaken! Rather, they will be finished off, like a sword eradicates.
Malbim citing Mahari: This refers to Agripas, the last king [in Bayis Sheni] ? he fell to the sword in Romi.
Will his arm dry?
Rashi: Yes, in the future "v'Nasati Es Nikmasi be'Edom" (Yechezkel 25:14).
Radak, Malbim: His strength will be depleted.
What do we learn from "his right eye will weaken"?
Rashi: Meforshim say that this refers to Tzidkiyah 1 ? "v'Es Einei Tzidkiyah Iver" (Melachim II, 25:7).
Radak: His Hashgachah will cease, and [wise] counsel in his deeds. "Ein Yemino" is the eye of the heart. Also Ibn Ezra says so, but he explained this Parashah differently.
Malbim: His Chochmah will become foolish. Both his body and Nefesh will be punished.
Malbim citing Mahari: Agripas fell to the sword in Romi, and also his son, who was good, was killed with him ? this is like his right eye.
Rashi: This refers to the future - "Hine Anochi Mekim Ro'eh ba'Aretz" (16). It cannot refer to Tzidkiyah, who was 70 years ago!
