What is the meaning of "bi'Hyos David Es Edom"?
Radak: This is like be'Edom.
What happened when David was in Edom?
Rashi: Hadad fled (verse 17) from David and Yo'av. Radak - Hadad was young then. When he heard that David and Yo'av died, he wanted to take vengeance against Yisrael.
Whom did they bury?
Rashi: "David made a name" (Shmuel II, 8:13) - he buried those that he killed from Edom. This is a good name for Yisrael, that they bury their enemies. Also about Gog and Magog, it says "v'Kavru Kol Am ha'Aretz v'Hayah Lahem l'Shem" (Yechezkel 39:13). Radak - "va'Yach" is [past participle, i.e.] before what was just said; he buried after he had struck. We find like this -"Katzafta va'Necheta" (Yeshayah 64:4; You became angry after we had sinned), "va'Yibak'u ha'Mayim" (Shemos 14:21, before the sea floor became dry.)
Rashi citing Targum Yonasan: They stripped the dead of Chalitzasam (their weapons 1 ).
Surely this is the meaning, like Rashi explained in Shmuel II, 2:21, and not 'their clothes', like in Shoftim 14:19. (PF)
