What does the verse teach about the sin, Sheker and Shav of the Terafim, Kosemim and dreams?
Rashi: They encouraged your fathers to rebel against Hashem.
Radak: In the future, people will recognize that they were all Sheker. The true Nevi'im's predictions of evil were fulfilled via the Churban, and the consolations will be fulfilled then.
Malbim: People will cease to rely on them, for there is no substance in them. We infer that before Mashi'ach, people will be misled by them.
What was the vain consolation?
Rashi: They said 'there will be Shalom', but there was not Shalom.
What do we learn from "Al Ken Nasa'u"?
Radak: They were exiled from their land like flock without a shepherd.
What is the meaning of "Ya'anu"?
Rashi: They will be humbled, like "Le'anos Mipanai" (Shemos 10:3). It is an expression of poverty.
Radak: It is submissiveness, like "ume'Hamonam Lo Ya'aneh" (Yeshayah 31:4).
Why does it say "Ki Ein Ro'eh"?
Refer to 10:2:3:2.
Malbim: They did not have faithful, prudent shepherds that conduct them via Torah and intellect. Rather, they confounded them with follies and many [vain] words.
