DAF DISCUSSIONS - SUKAH 17

Benjamin Horne asks:

Dear Rabbi,

Rashi states that one should not sleep under the invalid part of sukah in the case of dofen akuma. Why does rashi only say that sleeping is forbidden? Does this mean that eating under this part of the sukkah would be permitted?

Benjamin Horne, London, England

The Kollel replies:

Sholom Rav

Rashi mentions sleeping because unlike eating, which is permitted as long as one does not eat a Se'udah, sleeping has no Heter, and is therefore the example of Isur that Rashi uses.

So the answer to your question is 'No' - sleeping is forbidden, and so is eating (a meal).
