As the Avodah of the Kohen Gadol winds down, each person would read from his Sefer Torah to display its beauty []. What is the meaning of this strange custom.
One pshat given is that we received the luchos sh'niyos on Yom Kippur .
For that alone, we could have a communal Krias Hatorah. Why should each individual bring his own Sefer Torah ?
There may be another idea over here. Throughout Aseres Y'mei Teshuva we constantly beseech Hash-m ' '. Which book are we referring to?
In Parshas Ki Tisa (32:33), Moshe Rabeinu said ' '. Rashi explains that Moshe was asking to be deleted from the entire Sefer Torah. The explains on that pasuk that "each person has his name hinted in the torah, such as the Ramban told his wayward student ", and lehavdil the Vilna gaon found his name in ". It's interesting that this pasuk is what's used as the base for the famous words - ' '- [].
Moreover - we know the concept of the Zohar ( , ") that '" '.
Based on this - each and every one of us daven to Hash-m - that we should be zoche to of accomplish our unique role our signified in the .
Therefore with conclusion of at the culmination of Aseres Y'mei Teshuva where we have finally achieved the of , we can each take out our own polished , and show its beauty - with our firm trust that Hash-m granted us a new Year inscribed in ' '.
