FOOTNOTES:
==========
(1) The Mishnah mentions -- after the Hatavah of the five Neros -- the
Shechitah of the Tamid along with the Zerikah. However, the BI'UR HA'GRA
(Tamid 3:1,6) states that the Shechitah of the Tamid is done *before* the
Hatavah of the five Neros, and only the Zerikah follows the Hatavah.
(Accordingly, the order of the Avodos as they were actually done matches the
order of the drawing of lots, see Insights to Daf 15.)
(2) Abaye and Rav Papa argue concerning the order listed by the Payas. Abaye maintains that the Payas for the Hatavas ha'Neros refers to the *first five* Neros. According to Rav Papa, it refers to the *last two* Neros and is in accordance with the Rabanan who argue with Aba Shaul, who say that the Ketores comes between the two Hatavos.
However, this argument applies only to the Mishnah in Yoma (25a) regarding the Payas. It would seem that it does not apply to the same Mishnah in Tamid regarding the Payas, because there everyone agrees that it is referring to the *last two* Neros and not the first five. That is, only here in Yoma was there a necessity to explain that the Hatavas ha'Neros in the Mishnah is referring to the first five and is in accordance with the Rabanan who argue with Aba Shaul, in order to reconcile the Mishnah on 25a with the Mishnah on 14a. (However, according to what we write in footnote 4 in the name of Tosfos, it could be that according to Abaye even the Mishnah in Tamid is in accordance with the Rabanan, and not like Aba Shaul, as the Gilyon ha'Shas points out. See also Insights to 15:1:a)
(3) In the Mishnah dealing with the Payas (3:A in the chart), Dishun ha'Mizbe'ach is mentioned *after* Shechitah and Zerikah. However, in the Mishnah dealing with the actual process of the Korban Tamid (2:A in the chart), Dishon ha'Mizbe'ach is mentioned first, *before* the Shechitah and Zerikah of the Tamid. (This discrepancy is discussed in our Insights to 15:1)
(4) It seems clear from a Mishnah in the end of Tamid (6:1) that the Hatavah of the last two Neros is done *after* the Zerikas ha'Dam, and this is how most of the Rishonim there explain. (However, the RASHBA, in Teshuvos [I:309, 79] writes that the Mishnah in the end of Tamid is not referring to the Hatavah of the last two Neros, but rather it is referring to the *Hadlakah* performed in the evening. He says that the Tana of Tamid maintains that *no* Avodah interrupted between the Hatavas ha'Neros of the first five and the last two Neros. He explains at length how his opinion can be reconciled with our Sugya. The Ritva here cites a similar opinion in the name of "Tosfos.")
