What is the meaning of "va'Yis'halachu ba'Asher Yis'halachu"?

1.

Rashi citing Targum Yonasan: They went in a place proper to go - where they will be saved.

2.

Radak: They went by chance, any place that was available to dwell there.

3.

Malbim: They did not settle in any place, rather, they constantly went from place to place and returned to where they had already gone, so Sha'ul would not know where to go after them. This is why Sha'ul ceased to go [after him]. 1

The verse implies that once he heard that David left Ke'ilah, he ceased! Seemingly, if David kept returning to the same places, Sha'ul could wait nearby for him to return! (PF)
