Why did Adoni Bezek flee?

Malbim: He saw that the city was conquered.

Why is the accent in Adoni mil'Eil (on the next to last syllable)? In verse 5, it is mil'Ra (on the last syllable)!

Radak: The Yud is extra; it is as if it says Adon Bezek. Malbim - at this time he was not king. Above, the Yud is part of the word, to strengthen it.

Why did they cut off his thumbs and big toes? The Torah says to kill the seven Kena'ani nations via the sword, and not to pain them!

Malbim: Hashem put into their minds to do so, to pay him Midah k'Neged Midah (like verse 7 says).
