Why does it say that Yehoshua saved them from Bnei Yisrael? It already says (verse 23) that Bnei Yisrael did not strike them!

Malbim: Had they not accepted taxes and servitude, they would have killed them, for they thought that the Nesi'im's Shevu'ah did not cover this.
