What is the question "Hashem Einecha ha'Lo le'Emunah"?

1.

Rashi: You seek to benefit Ba'alei Emunah - why does no one seek Emunah?

2.

Radak: Your Hashgachah is for a matter that lasts, and not for something Batel. Why did You strike them, and they did not feel that You strike them for their sin? This is like "la'Shav Hikisi Es Beneichem Musar Lo Lakachu" (2:30), "Al Mah Suku Od Tosifu Sarah" (Yeshayah 1:5).

3.

Radak citing Targum Yonasan: It is revealed in front of You [to benefit those who act with integrity].

4.

Mesilas Yesharim (Perek 11): Hashem desires only Emunah.

5.

Malbim: The reason that You strike them is so they will repent. This depends on Emunah. Without Emunah, they do not believe that You punish them. The punishment is for naught! You should choose means that will attain this end.

2)

What is the meaning of "Hikisah Osam v'Lo Chalu"?

1.

Rashi: [You struck them, and] they did not become sick, to put to heart to repent from their evil.

2.

Malbim: They did not feel [that You punish them].

3)

What is "Kachas"?

1.

Rashi: This is like "Lakachas" (to take).

4)

Why does it say "Kilisam Me'anu Kachas Musar"?

1.

Radak: You almost finished them off, and even so they refused to be chastised!

2.

Malbim: You completed until they were ill and felt it, but still refused to be chastised. This is like "va'Telahatehu mi'Saviv v'Lo Yada va'Tuv'ar Bo v'Lo Yasim Al Lev" (Yeshayah 42:25).

5)

What is the meaning of "Chizku Feneihem mi'Sela"?

1.

Radak: They were not ashamed in front of Your Nevi'im who warned them.
