What is the meaning of "Shamnu Ashesu"?

Rashi: This is like "Eshes Shen" (Shir ha'Shirim 5:14), a thick body. Radak - they became clear. A fat person's skin is clear.

Radak: This is like "va'Yishman Yeshurun va'Yiv'at" (Devarim 32:15) - they increased property. Also, rich people are usually fat.

Malbim: They became fat from all of the good that they stole.

Why does it say "Avru Divrei Ra"?

1.

Rashi: If evil or a sin came to their hands, they did not veer from it until they transgressed and did it.

2.

Radak: They were not satisfied with their wealth. They increase to steal and extort until they passed all matters of an evil man. I.e. they did more evil than other Resha'im, and passed them in wickedness.

3.

Radak citing Targum Yonasan: They transgressed words of Torah; they did badly.

4.

Malbim: Not only do they not fear punishment - [others]] do not even speak about them! No one is concerned for them.

Why does it say "Lo Danu Din Yasom v'Yatzlichu"?

1.

Rashi: They did not judge orphans' cases in order that they will succeed.

2.

Radak: They did not judge cases of orphans or weak people to save them from their oppressors - and even so, they succeeded.

Malbim: Because no one judges cases of orphans, the son of the murdered cannot claim from them - therefore, they succeeded.

What does "u'Mishpat Evyonim Lo Shafatu" add?

1.

Radak: The matter is repeated in different words.

2.

Malbim: [Just like they did not judge orphans' claims against the murderers of their fathers], they did not judge claims of other poor relatives [against the murderers].
