Why does it say "Kra Elai v'E'eneka?

1.

Rashi: Ask, and I will inform you future events.

2.

Radak: If you call, I will answer like you desire. This is the opposite of "v'Al Tisa Va'adam Rinah u'Sefilah" (7:16).

3.

Malbim: I explained above (15:16) that Yirmeyah could not have Nevu'ah whenever he wanted to. His Nevu'ah was of punishments. He could not prepare himself for Nevu'ah via Simchah of Mitzvah. His Nevu'ah came only when Hashem called him and prepared him. Now that Hashem is telling him good tidings, he can call to Hashem and Hashem will answer him with Nevu'ah when Yirmeyah wants.

What are "Betzuros"?

1.

Rashi: They are matters guarded 1 in My heart to do them.

2.

Targum Yonasan: Netiran (guarded). Radak - his text said 'u'Netzuros.'

1

This implies that Rashi's text said 'u'Netzuros.' Radak infers so about Yonason's text. Some texts of Rashi say "u'Vetzuros." Perhaps they were 'corrected' to match our text of the Navi. (PF)

3)

What are "Gedolos u'Vetzuros Lo Yedatam"?

1.

Radak: They are great, strong consolations that you did not know. 1

2.

Malbim: They are Gedolos - above nature; u'Vetzuros - strong; they will not change. They will endure forever. Lo Yedatam - until now, I informed you only punishments.

1

Some texts of Rashi say 'u'Netzuros.' The correct text is "u'Vetzuros", like the verse. (PF)
