What is "Chosen"?

1.

Radak #1: It is an expression of strength and power - "v'Hayah ha'Chason li'N'ores" (Yeshayah 1:31), "v'Chason Hu ka'Alonim" (Amos 2:9). Chosen is the good, valuable storehouse - "Chosen vi'Yikar Yikachu" (Yechezkel 22:25). The same applies to the Nif'al form - "Lo Ye'atzer v'Lo Yechasen" (Yeshayah 23:18). The storehouse is called Chosen, for it is a person's strength and power at a time of affliction.

2.

Malbim: It is the strong things in the city, e.g. the fortresses.

2)

What is "Yegi'ah"?

1.

Malbim: It is their silver and gold and grain.

3)

What is "Yekarah"?

1.

Malbim: It is valuable things, like gems and pearls.

4)

Which storehouses are discussed?

1.

Malbim: It is what the kings stored.

5)

Will all these matters be plundered, taken and brought to Bavel?

1.

Malbim: No. The Chosen (fortresses) will be given to the enemy (conquered). Yegi'ah and Yekarah will be plundered (each soldier takes for himself), and the storehouses will be brought to Bavel.
