Malbim: If we will not tell now, we will need to wait until morning. If we would tell at midnight (or later), they will know that we delayed to take spoils, for it is not normal to go to a camp at night.

I.e. the king will not send out anyone before morning, lest Aram is hiding in ambush. (He was concerned for this even after he heard the prophecy of relief tomorrow!) We must tell beforehand, to give to the king time to decide and prepare to send out scouts, troops or everyone, once morning comes. (PF)
