What are "Chormim"?

1.

Radak citing Targum Yonasan: They tend vineyards.

2.

Radak citing Shabbos 26a: They are people who pick Afarsemon from Ein Gedi.

2)

What are "Yogvim"?

1.

Rashi: They dig in the ground. This is related to Yekevim 1 , i.e. pits in the ground (to press wine).

2.

Rashi (Yirmeyah 52:16), from Shabbos 26a: They are people who hunt the Chilazon 2 [Radak - from the ladders (steep inclines) of Tzur until Chaifa].

3.

Radak citing Targum Yonasan: They are people who work in fields.

1

Ramban (Shemos 28:31): The letters Gimel and Kuf are sometimes interchanged (because they are articulated from the same place in the mouth - Harei Besamim 2 155.)

2

The corresponding verse in Yirmeyah 39:10 says that he gave to them vineyards and Yegevim. Rashi (26a) says that Yogvim is like Yekevim (refer to 25:12:2:1 and the note there), where they press the Chilazon to squeeze out its blood. (PF)

3)

Why did he leave the poor people, and not exile them?

1.

Malbim (Yirmeyah 39:10): He knew that they would not rebel against him, for he gave to them vineyards and fields 1 .

So it says there. Here and in Yirmeyah 52:16, it says that he left them to be Chormim and Yogevim (people who tend vineyards and fields). It does not say that he gave land to them. (PF)
