1)

Why are the residents powerless?

1.

Rashi: I (Hashem) weakened them in front of you. You are not strong; they are weak!

2.

Refer to 19:25:3:2.

2)

Why does He compare them to "Esev Sadeh vi'Yrak Deshe"?

1.

Malbim (Yeshayah 37:27): The residents are not totally cut off. Rather, they are like grass of the field. They wither before the grain ripens. After they fall, the field is full of grain. Also these residents were afraid and ashamed, but they will sprout to greatness in the days of Chizkiyah.

3)

Why did He say "Chatzir Gagos"?

1.

Rashi: It dries quickly.

2.

Radak: It is weaker than Esev Sadeh and Yerek Desheh.

4)

What is "u'Shdefah Lifnei Kamah"?

1.

Rashi: It is sheaves stricken before they hardened, to be called Kamah (standing grain).

2.

Radak: It is sheaves stricken before they ripened, to be called Kamah.

5)

Here it says "u'Shdefah", and in Yeshayah 37:27 it says "u'Shdemah"!

1.

Rashi explains them differently. (Here it is sheaves that were stricken, and there it is stubble.)

2.

Radak: Pei and Mem are interchangeable. They are pronounced from the same place (the lips - PF).
