Radak, Malbim: It explains in Divrei ha'Yamim II, 25:6-13 that Amatzyah hired 100,000 Giborim from Yisrael to go with him to fight Edom. The Navi told him to send them back home, and he did. They were angry, and killed 3,000 in Arei Yehudah and looted greatly.
