What is the meaning of "v'Chalkelu"?

Rashi: It means Niskalkelu, i.e. they armed themselves with weapons and all needs of war.

Radak: All [who fought the first time were here also now]; none were lost. Targum Yonasan says like this.

Malbim: They all went out [together], unlike the first time, when Na'arei Sarei ha'Medinos went out first, and afterwards the Am.

What are "Chasifei Izim"?

Rashi: They are assemblies of sheep; there is nothing like this in Tanach.

Rashi citing Menachem: It is an expression of exposure, like "Machsof ha'Lavan" (Bereishis 30:37) and "Chesfi Shovel" (Yeshayah 47:2). An expression of exposure applies to goats - "she'Galshu me'Har Gil'ad" (Shir ha'Shirim 4:1) - when they descend from the mountain, the mountain is revealed.
