What are "Tovim k'Chedek"?
Rashi citing Targum Yonasan: The good that they have is hard to extract from their hands like thorns stuck in wool.
Radak: The good in them is like a Chedek (thorn); it pains everyone who touches it.
Malbim: Also the good one found among them is not good himself. He is like a Chedek (thorn) which is straight compared to the Mesuchah (fence and cover made from thorns). The thorn itself is bent greatly. When they make a fence from them, they bend them more, so the thorn is straight in comparison. So the best of them is crooked, just he is straight compared to his generation.
What do we learn from "Yashar mi'Mesuchah"?
Rashi: The straightest of them is worse than Mesuchah of thorns, which is like "Haser Mesukaso" (Yeshayah 5:5, i.e. a thorn fence). Radak ? Mesuchah with a Samech is like with a Sin ? we find "Atah Sachta Va'ado" (Iyov 1:10), "Hineni Sach Tzli Es Darkech ba'Sirim" (Hoshe'a 2:8).
Radak citing Targum Yonasan: The truthful among them is worse than the dross of a fence.
What is "Yom Metzapecha"?
Rashi: The day to which you hope for good. It will be "Pekudasecha".
Radak: The day of the false Nevi'im ? they cause you to anticipate [good]. They gave false promises to you. Now you will see the day, if it is good or bad!
Malbim: It is the day of punishments prepared for those who look for you, i.e. the nations that look forward to seeing your evil.
What is "Pekudasecha"?
Radak, Malbim: Recompense for your sins. Malbim ? that day, when Eretz Yisrael's neighbors are punished, also Yisrael will be punished.
What is "Mevuchasam"?
Rashi citing Targum Yonasan: Irvuleihun 1 (Radak ? confusion of the false Nevi'im); this is like "Nevuchim Hem ba'Aretz" (Shemos 14:3).
Malbim: The entire nation, about which was said "l'Damim Ye'erovu" (2), will be confused.
Our text of Yonason is Aravu Lehon (were mixed for them). (PF)
