Why does it say "u'Re'isem"?

1.

Malbim: Until now, you believed that there is hope for the future, but you did not see it. Now, you will see it.

2)

What is the significance of "v'Sas Libechem"?

1.

Malbim: Until now, via strong Emunah, there was only Simchah hidden in your hearts - "Ki Vo Yismach Libenu Ki v'Shem Kodsho Vatachnu" (Tehilim 33:21). Now there will be open rejoicing (Sason). Simchah will spread from the heart to the external limbs.

3)

Why does it say "v'Atzmoseichem ka'Deshe Sifrachnah"?

1.

Radak: This is the opposite of "v'Ru'ach Nich'ah Teyavesh Garem" (Mishlei 17:22). Just like worry and sighing dried your bones in Galus, so when you return to Yerushalayim, the Simchah will make them sprout.

2.

Radak citing Targum Yonasan: Your bodies will be bright like grass.

4)

How will Hashem's hand be known?

1.

Rashi: When He does His vengeances and wonders, His servants will know the power of His hand.

2.

Malbim: Until now, He did not reward Tzadikim or punish Resha'im; many denied reward and punishment 1 . Now, His hand will be known via these.

Hashem punished Dor ha'Mabul, Sedom, Egypt... and saved Noach and Bnei Yisrael! Malbim discusses a future generation that did not see all this. (PF)

5)

Why does it say "Es Avadav"?

1.

Radak: This is like Im Avadav. Hashem's hand will be with them for good, and with His enemies for evil and anger, in the war of Gog and Magog.

6)

What is the meaning of "v'Za'am"?

1.

Radak: It is a verb (He will be angry), for the last syllable is accented. Therefore, there is a Kamatz under the Zayin and a Patach under the Ayin.
