Why did Moshe discuss Matan Torah (in this Pasuk) before Yeyzi'as Mitzrayim (in Pasuk 34)?
Oznayim laTorah #1: Because it follows on from "O ha'Nishma Kamohu" 1 in the previous Pasuk.
Oznayim la'Torah #2: Because the thrust of the Parshah is the fact that Hashem chose Yisrael as His nation and gave them the Torah. 2
What are the connotations of ?ha?Shama Am Kol Elokim Medaber mi?Toch ha?Eish??? What is it referring to?
R. Bachye: With reference to the previous Pasuk ?O ha?Nishma Kamohu?? ? Has such a thing ever been heard ? a. that a nation should hear the Voice of Hashem and live?! b. that a nation should hear the Voice of Hashem and be brought back to life?! 1
A hint at the Gemara in Shabbos 88b, which states that, when they heard the Voice of Hashem, their Neshamos left them and Hashem brought down dew from the Heaven and revived them. See R. Bachye.
How could an entire nation merit prophecy?
Lev Eliyahu (Sh'mos p.121): During the forty-nine days from Pesach until Shavu'os, they acquired the forty-nine Midos of Kedushah that bring to Ru'ach ha'Kodesh and prophecy!
