To whom does "Ishto ha'Yehudiyah" apply?
'Rashi': This is Kalev's wife. She was born from Yehudis.
Radak (17-18) She was Mered's wife. We infer that his first wife was not a Yehudiyah, rather, Bisyah, like it says below.
Malbim: This is Kalev's third wife. Her name was ha'Yehudiyah. I mentioned (2:52) that many names begin with Hei.
What is "Avi Gedor?"?
'Rashi': They are the officers of these cities. These cities are mentioned in Yehoshua (15:56) "v'Yakde'am v'Zanu'ach Chalchul Beis Tzur u'Gedor? Shocho."
Radak: The verse lists the names of the sons. The fathers are mentioned for publicity, when the son was honored and known via his father.
Radak citing Chazal: All these names Avigdor, Chever? are expounded about Moshe. It says that Bisyah gave birth to him, for she raised him.
Why does it say "v'Eleh Bnei Bisyah"?
'Rashi': The prefix Vov in v'Eleh distinguishes sons of Yehudiyah (mentioned above) from Bisyah's son. It says Bnei, even though only one is listed 1 .
Radak: These are those mentioned first, before it mentions his Jewish wife.
Malbim: She was Kalev's fourth wife. We do not know if Pharaoh is a Yisrael, or Melech Mitzrayim (Megilah 13a). Her sons were Mered, and those in the coming verse.
'Rashi' explains that Eleh is the name of Bisyah's son. (PF)
Did Mered marry Bisyah?
'Rashi': This is Kalev, who Marad (rebelled) against the Meraglim's counsel (Sanhedrin 19b).
Radak: Yes. Mered was Ben Ezrah (17), from Bnei Kalev ben Yefuneh.
Malbim: No - Kalev married her; Mered was their son 1 .
The Trup (cantillation) supports this; Mared is not read together with Asher Lakach. (PF)
