Where do light and darkness dwell?
1.
Ibn Ezra (23, citing Rav Sadya Gaon): There was a place in the land that always had light, except for one day, and He reversed it (it has light only one day). There is a place where it is light for half a year 1 .
2.
Malbim: Always, light dwells in one place, and darkness opposite it (on the other side of the earth). At the time of Mazal Sartan (Tamuz) the sun dwells in the north and there is darkness in the south, and oppositely at the time of Mazal Gedi (Teves).
1
Ibn Ezra: This is true, but the verses do not discuss this. He similarly explained "Ei Zeh Derech Yechalek Or" (24).
