Why does it say "ha'Bayis ha'Gadol"?

1.

Refer to 3:4:4:1 and the note there.

2.

Malbim: This teaches the Heichal, and excludes the Kodesh ha'Kodoshim. There, there was no wood on the floor, only gold.

2)

Why does it say that it was covered with Beroshim wood and with gold?

1.

'Rashi' (4-5): First it was covered with Beroshim, which had designs of trees, Keruvim and open flowers. Gold was then nailed onto the designs in the wood, so it would be attached firmly. One cannot attach gold firmly to stone.

2.

Malbim: This teaches that he covered the floor of the Heichal with wood and gold. This is not explicit in Sefer Melachim.

3)

What are "Timorim"?

1.

Radak: They are forms of Temarim (date trees).

4)

What are "Sharsheros"?

1.

'Rashi' #1: He made many designs. When he saw that there was [flat] space between one design and another, he made the form of chains to join them.

2.

'Rashi' #2: They were actual gold chains; the designs were stuck in them.

5)

Were these the only designs? Melachim I, 6:29 mentions also Keruvim!

1.

Malbim: Our verse (and verse 18 in Melachim) discusses the floor. Only the walls had Keruvim. This resolves the contradiction between verses 18 and 29 in Sefer Melachim.
